Law enforcement officers recover $30 Million from hackers
With the assistance of law enforcement and top organizations in the cryptocurrency sector, we were able to seize more than \$30,000,000 worth of cryptocurrency that was stolen by North Korean-linked hackers,” Plante said.
Plante stated that this is the first time cryptocurrency has ever been taken by a North Korean hacking organization.
Axie was robbed of over $600million by hackers this spring. Many proceeds were laundered through Tornado Cash, a privacy mixer. Later, the U.S. Treasury Department sanctioned Tornado Cash as facilitating money laundering.
A spokesperson for the Treasury Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
