Meta has launched interactive 3D ads on Facebook and Instagram, inspired by the metaverse pivot that the company has been executing since it changed its name. This integration is possible thanks to Vntana’s development in Meta’s AR publishing library.
Vntana integrates 3D ads in Meta’s Apps
Publishers can now include 3D models in ads on social media platforms such as Instagram and Facebook that are owned by Meta. Publishers will now be able to use metaverse-inspired ads on platforms like Facebook and Instagram. Users can interact with these objects. Vntana, a company that acts as a service provider to other companies so they can include their 3D assets on social media feeds, presented the innovation.
According to a press statement, Vntana has access to Meta’s ARAPI to integrate their services. The release details say that 3D ads are displayed in users’ Instagram and Facebook feeds and display interactive 3D models. Users can tap on them to interact with them and move the product around so they can see all angles.
Metaverse Monetization
This innovation could be part of the first monetization strategies to include metaverse-like elements on Meta-owned platforms. Ashley Crowder, cofounder and CEO at Vntana stated that this is a great idea.
Online ads using AR and 3D technology are the next frontier for brands trying to connect with digital consumers. It is a great way to get started in the metaverse.
She stated that the release could bring about democratization of the ad space on these platforms as more companies are able to bring their products directly to customers. Customers will also benefit from the ability to view a detailed model of these products in 3D.
Chris Barbour, Director of Augmented Reality Business Development & Partnerships, at Meta, stated:
3D and AR offer new advertising opportunities for retailers and e-commerce companies, improving customer experience starting at the point of purchase.
The company is not currently monetizing Meta’s AR flagship app, Horizon Worlds. This app offers a variety of metaverse experiences. Meta might use this technology in the future to include ads from other brands in these spaces.
