The Merge is the culmination years of hard work by Ethereum’s core developers to make the transition smooth and reduce its energy consumption. The Merge was even hailed by ConsenSys CEO Joseph Lubin as the third largest event since the introduction of Bitcoin and Ethereum.
Many enthusiasts from Europe and North America could join the festivities at night or early in the morning. Ethereum is expected to move from proof-of-work to proof of stake on Thursday unless something changes.
