The community responded to Madonna & Beeple’s latest NFT drop by expressing their inspiration and shaming the artwork’s “flaws”.
The Queen of Pop has teamed up with Record-Setting Artist Beeple to create the series Mother of Creation. It includes three nonfungible tokens, (NFTs), titled Mother of Technology Mother of Nature Mother of Evolution and Mother of Technology. The NFTs depict a 3D representation of Madonna giving rise to robot centipedes and butterflies.
The market went wild over stablecoins displaying instability. Madonna and Beeple decided it was time to show the community something even more crazy — NFTs showing the 3D model of the 63 year-old singer-songwriter’s genital area.
The community responded with a variety of perspectives to the drop. Some were inspired while others criticised different aspects. Emiko Inoue, a Twitter user, wrote that the artwork was “the most inspiring art” and that she would buy it if she had the money.
Twitter user artbyjstelco said that the art he “absolutely hates”. Many details of the NFT were criticized by them, including the fact that mother nature shouldn’t wear make-up and that it should have fake tits. The artwork also doesn’t capture the pain of giving birth.
At the time of writing, the NFTs collectively have a value of 28 Ether ( ETH), or around $56,000. The auction will close in 35 hours. The collection description on NFT marketplace SuperRare states that the money raised from the drop will be donated to three charities that support women and children around the globe.
Three-dimensional NFTs are becoming more popular. Sony and Theta Labs announced last week a collaboration to launch 3D NFTs. This collaboration highlights the capabilities of the Spatial Reality Display, the electronics manufacturer. The monitor allows users to view objects in 3D, without needing to use traditional accessories.
