In-app payments, open-source code and… Dogecoin This is what Tesla CEO Elon Musk has in mind for the social media platform after the takeover. Elon Musk spent a lot of time discussing his plans for the transformation of Twitter since he announced his intent to take over Twitter in a $44 Billion deal.

The billionaire Tesla CEO has many ideas, including cracking down on spam and increasing premium users.

The deal itself is still up in the air. Musk stated that the deal “cannot move forward” while awaiting further details from spambots on this platform. This even though he contributed $33.5 billion towards his takeover bid.

He’s been discussing his plans for Twitter throughout, telling other tech giants on the Podcast that there was potential for the platform’s growth to be a WeChat-style super app with multiple functions.

What would the Twitter of Elon Musk look if all these great ideas are realized?

Freedom of speech
Free speech is perhaps the most talked about aspect of Musk’s takeover bid. The potential new owner of Twitter has repeatedly stressed the importance of a “digital square” for Twitter.

Musk clarified his belief that free speech is about being against censorship that goes beyond the law. This could indicate that the new Twitter will have updated moderation rules, and could see familiar faces return to Twitter. Musk has already stated that he would reinstate Donald Trump’s account.

He also claimed ownership of Twitter. This would make it “geared towards the middle 80 percent of the population,” leaving the extreme right and far left “dissatisfied.”

Bot-busting
Musk has made free speech the most prominent of his ideas. However, he has identified eliminating spam bots as his top priority. Musk suggested that Musk’s current delay in the deal is due to the fact that bots account for only 5% of the company’s daily active users.

According to a blog posting from last year, Twitter’s machine learning methods detect and challenge 5-10 million accounts each week. Musk believes he can do more.

What would the platform look like without bots? Recent Twitter purges of automated accounts have shown that most people’s followers would suffer. Musk could lose half of his followers, according to one estimate.

Musk seems to have one goal: less scams, crypto-scams included. He stated that bots and “scam arms” make Twitter “much more difficult at TED 2022 in Vancouver.

“If I could have a Dogecoin to pay for every crypto-scam I see, I would have 100 billion Dogecoins.”

Premium subscriptions
Twitter Blue costs $3 per month and was launched last year as the first subscription service on the platform. You can also access bookmarks folders, and an undo button for every 30 seconds.

Musk stated in a deleted tweet that anyone who uses the service should be given a “verified” blue check mark. However, he said that this should not look like the badges Twitter gives to active users. Musk also stated that subscribers should not be charged for the site.

Musk has set a goal to reach 69,000,000 Twitter Blue users in 2025. He is certain that any changes to the premium option, and to the platform as a whole, will make it worthwhile to pay for.

Dogecoin, NFTs
How much will you be charged for your Twitter Blue membership? Musk suggested on Twitter there may be an option to purchase Dogecoin. This meme coin is what he’s championed.

It’s up to you to decide if he’s serious.

He’s not impressed by Twitter’s recent adoption NFT profile photos. He called it “annoying” in an email and arguing it was a waste engineering resources that could have been better spent on crypto scammers.

Payments
Musk could bring some type of payment feature to Twitter, which users can expect to see. Former Paypal CEO Musk stated that it would be useful to combine multiple functions into one app similar to China’s WeChat.

Musk spoke out about the possibility of payments on the All-In Podcast. He said that payments could be part of such a platform’s offering, “whether it is crypto or fiat.”

He also stated that the only option was to convert Twitter into a “super app”, with another being to create a new app entirely.

Project Bluesky
Concerning Jack Dorsey, the former CEO of Twitter, this project is not likely to be affected by Musk’s Twitter takeover.

Project Bluesky, which explores elements of cryptography and Web3, claims that it is owned by employees . Therefore, it is not subject to the ownership or whims of Twitter.

The venture’s founders took to Twitter to say that they realized that Bluesky and Twitter were dependent on each other for success. Therefore, Bluesky and Twitter created an independent company to serve all interests.
