Funko Inc. announced three months ago that it was entering non-fungible tokens (NFT) when it purchased a majority stake in NFT startup Tokenwave. Funko’s CEO Brian Mariotti stated that Funko Pop digital NFTs had the potential to change the game. On Friday Funko announced that a new NFT collection will be launched featuring Jay and Silent Bob, both from Kevin Smith’s Clerks films.

Funko to Introduce Jay & Silent Bob Non-Fungible Tokens & Corresponding Physical Versions
The new collection of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) will feature the cult characters from the Clerks movies Jay and Silent Bob (Nasdaq FNKO).

Jay and Silent Bob are most well-known for their roles in Clerks movies, but they also appear regularly in all of Kevin Smith’s Askewniverse movies. They also appear in “Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back,” and “Jay & Silent Bob’s Super Groovy Cartoon Movie” respectively.

Funko revealed the Jay & Silent Bob NFT collection via Twitter and Facebook on Friday. They also noted that the collection would drop on Tuesday, July 26, 2022. “Jay & Silent Bob x Funko Series1 Digital Pop!” Funko tweeted.

Digital.funko.com has more information about the forthcoming Jay and Silent Bob NFT compilation. Funko will release digital collectibles for Jay and Silent Bob, as well as physical versions of Jay and Silent Bob Funko Pop characters.

Funko’s Digital Pop NFTs are now part of a slew of well-known brands that issue digital collectible products
Before announcing the Jay and Silent Bob Non-Functional Tokens (NFTs), Funko has teamed with well-known brands such as DC Comics and Warner Bros. Funko Digital Pop tokens that are not fungible are very similar to products Funko sells in shops. The Funko Digital Pop Jay NFTs and Silent Bob NFTs are available through the NFT platform Droppp.

The Droppp platform will provide the NFTs, but Funko digital collectibles can be issued on the Wax blockchain network. Funko will exhibit “an immersive, fan-focused community environment” at San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC), July 21-24, 2022. Funko joins a host of other well-known brands that have entered NFT and metaverse industries in the past few years with its new, blockchain-based digital products.

Topps, Adidas and Arizona Iced Tea are just a few of the brands that have taken part in NFT. Cryptoslam.io statistics show that NFT sales are lower than 30 days ago, despite brand recognition and celebrity joining the fray.
